Despite my earlier (and justified) frustration with Universal Sports' coverage of Worlds this year, I am a believer in giving credit where it is due. They have responded quickly in assuaging the disappointment of gymnastics fans by replying to emails within a few hours, and by offering refunds to those affected. I've already been promised a refund on the $9.99 I paid in, and while it has not yet shown up in my bank account, I'm giving it a few days. It's the weekend--it may take a few days to show up.
I was impressed with how the coverage went this morning. I still had to deal with excessive "buffering," but I am going to have faith in Uni that they will take this all as a learning experience and when Scam rolls around next year, they'll have the kinks worked out.
If you experienced issues with your coverage, there is information about how to contact Universal Sports on the L.A. Times Blog.
On another note, I'm sorry I wasn't able to offer my usual quick hits, but FIFO spent Friday night in the hospital dealing with an 8mm kidney stone. All I wanted to do yesterday and today was relax and watch the show. I'm healthy now--the stone is gone, and I actually wasn't having pain with it, but I am tired and, frankly, a little bit dirty. So get your refunds, enjoy rewatching video from a really enjoyable Worlds, and check back sometime to see if I've gotten off my ass and updated.
Later.

ReplyDeleteThe execution scores for vault, beam and floor are insane. Can not believe no one broke 9.0 on beam!
